Vacation Music

I just can't quite believe it's July 2nd!  We were beginning our vacation a month ago, and I still haven't finished posting about it.  Prepare for some rapid fire posts in the next few days to catch up on everything.

While in Mississippi, we did visit the birthplaces of two famous musicians...........

Here we are swinging on the front porch of the little house where Elvis Presley was born, in Tupelo, Mississippi.  It is still in the original location.

There were only 2 rooms.  The next 2 photos are of the front room of the house.

The fireplace above is original to the house.  The second room was the kitchen.

The ice box below is also original to the house.

Of course, Elvis isn't really dead.............he was in the gift shop,

And he was in the restroom serenading you while you did your business!  Note the red countertops and gold fixtures here.

The grounds around the home were beautifully kept and provided a timeline of Elvis' life.

The circular sidewalk around the home provided information for each year of his life.  He was born in 1935 and had a twin brother who died at birth.  My shadow-self was trying to capture photos.

This was the church he attended.  They had live singing at certain times during the day, but we didn't stay for that.

And, there was this car outside the museum that we found interesting.

David could tell you more about the car.  He circled it a few times before we left.

Tupelo was our first Mississippi stop.  The second musician's birthplace was on our last day in Mississippi...........in the little town of Leland, in the Mississippi Delta.

Leland, Mississippi, the boyhood home of Jim Henson and the Birthplace of Kermit the Frog!

Okay, it was a tiny museum, FREE!, and filled with Kermit the Frog and the Muppets Memorabilia.

It was situated along the creek where Jim Henson would have played as a boy.  So just imagine Kermit floating along on his lily pad strumming his ukulele singing The Rainbow Connection.

Everything was very green there including the t-shirt that I bought and am now realizing that I haven't even worn yet.  We'll get that remedied this week!

So, those were our musician stops.  I know, we drove through the Mississippi Delta, home of the blues, and we stopped at the Kermit museum!  Kinda makes you wonder what other interesting stops we made.  Stay tune for more vacation wrap up!
