I moved in on Friday and spent the day exploring the whole house. It's a lot bigger than my place at the shelter. All day long, they kept picking me up and dropping me in the litter box. This got a little annoying. I know where the litter box is and how to use it, but I'm definitely not using it in front of anyone............a little privacy please! All that exploring wore me out, so I took lots of naps on Saturday. I even found a nice place in the basement to nap. Of course, I didn't realize everyone was searching for me, and was plucked out of a sound sleep to be hugged and kissed when I was finally "found". I don't know what the big deal was. I knew where I was the whole time.
Apparently I meet the list of requirements that DD had set up - female, yellow, cute, tame, soft, purring, intelligent, laid back, and playful. They say I am a good fit. However, they have commented on not knowing too much about the intelligent factor. So, I'd like to show my intelligence by sharing what I've learned since I moved in.
1. The piano makes beautiful music when you walk across the black and white part.
Here I am ready to jump down and play. Also, the pull string on the light is really fun to make swing back and forth. I can easily loose track of things and find myself falling off when I'm playing it.
2. No matter what time of day or night it is, when you come running through the house and hit the tile floor in the kitchen, you can slide all the way across and hit the cabinets on the other side! This works on the laminate floor on the back porch too. It's most fun to try in DD's bedroom where there is lots of empty floor space. I think she needs to clean the floor a little more though because when I hide under the bed or dresser, I come out with clumps of dust clinging to me.
3. Stairs are made to go up and down as fast as you can. I usually escort any member of the family up and down any of the steps. I'm trying to teach them the fun of running up and down, but they don't seem to get it.
4. My favorite game is to hide my stuffed mouse under the refrigerator and let them dig it out. For some reason they don't like to play this game as much as I do and usually after 5 or 6 attempts, the mouse just stays under the frig.
5. The dad's favorite game is when I sneak into the bedroom and hide under his bed and then reach out to swat his toes as he walks by. I know he really likes this because he keeps kicking me back under the bed so I can do it again!
6. The mom thinks I really like to be cuddled and then have this gooey ointment rubbed in my eyes twice a day. I'm thinking she needs to find a better idea of fun.
7. DD has an amazing collection of animals! I am trying to make friends with them, but they don't do much except sit there. I even tried teaching them how fun it is to go up and down the steps really fast, but they just tumble down and lay there. Oh well, I'm not giving up on them just yet.
8. One animal I don't want to make friends with is the dog. They call him Magic (see, HE has a name already!). He got to come inside Saturday afternoon because he didn't like all the cannon fire from the football game. They even took MY blanket and spread it out on the floor for him to lay on. I sat up on the piano and tried to use my amazing cat vision to stare a hole in him, but he just laid there and snored. At least they folded my blanket up nice and put it back for me when he went back outside.
I'm sure I will learn more since I am such an intelligent animal. The mom says we are going to do some sewing today. I don't know what that is, but if it gets too boring, I'm sure I can make an interesting game out of it somehow.
