Beware the Ides of March

I can't believe we are already to the middle of the month!  I was working with some basket weavers this past weekend and commented on the Ides of March and they had no idea where the phrase came from.  My inner English teacher sprang to life and had to impart some literary wisdom about the famous quote from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar.  So now we are all on the lookout for "bad" things happening.

NOT bad things............
Andi's basket is turning out beautifully........she has added the leather handles and has it ready to rim.

Kelsey's basket is progressing (with a little help from Jason).  She is enjoying the experience so much that she has requested to start another for a demonstration she wants to do at the county fair this summer.  We decided that Jason wouldn't be a part of that one.

We were all glad when he finally decided to take a nap on a pile of basket reed.

Kelsey has her basket ready to rim as well.  She even took it and some others from my collection to use as her demonstration at her club meeting last Sunday.  The Hubs was a little worried about this as he said it would lead to many calls about making more baskets, and I don't have the first 4 done yet.  So I have implemented the policy that every basket from now on will come with at least 1 free kitten!  Bonus!!!

Ides of March.............good thing/bad thing...........depending on who you ask......
PREGNANT CATS!
Elsa, the mother of all others, is definitely pregnant!

 Kimberly is NOT pregnant..........

Spot is NOT pregnant............  We think these 2 spend so much time curled up next to Magic that they smell too much like dogs to attract any "dates".

NOT pregnant, but definitely cross-eyed.  Hickory, being a boy, is not pregnant and we love him in spite of his vision issues.

Kira and her sister, Black Toe are definitely pregnant.  Black Toe looks very much like she has swallowed a barrel and would not allow photos to be taken of her in her current condition.

Summer is NOT pregnant so far as we can tell...........probably has something to do with the grumpy look on her face............no "dates".

Leia is not pregnant as she was fixed many years ago.  And, she's probably just too old.  We don't mention age to her though.

Bad thing/good thing...........Daylight Savings Time!  Lost an hour of sleep, but I love more daylight in the evening.  Our 9 deer can be seen crossing in front of our house every evening just at the edge of the yard.

Yes, they are getting awfully close.  Magic and Kinze don't seem to notice them, but it drives Jason to distraction in the picture window.

Good Thing.............another quilt guild meeting!!!  Our February meeting got postponed so late in the month, that we have already had our March meeting.
This is the completed top, ready to be quilted, of our opportunity quilt this year.  I will have tickets available at a later date.  We are calling it "Migration".  That was quite a flock of flying geese we made.

I showed my completed Old Tobacco Road quilt...........more flying geese in those borders!

Becky made this wall hanging as a birthday gift.  Isn't he cute!

We also had everyone bring the first 6 Seeing Stars blocks they had completed.  It was an amazing constellation of stars for viewing!

And, I remembered to snap a couple of photos of the quilt we made for the historic "Rock" Church to raffle.  We have our meetings in their fellowship hall every month.  Almost 2 years ago, a big hail storm went through Marshall.  Later in the summer, the ceiling in the sanctuary collapsed (during Sunday morning service), and their insurance company refused to pay for damage/restoration.  They are currently in litigation and are having fundraisers to use to restore the church.  They have been having church services in their fellowship hall for over a year.

I have tickets available if anyone is interested.  They are $1 each of 6 for $5.  It's a beautiful quilt made from Civil War style fabrics.
