Well, the hubster finished planting beans last night just before the rain started! He put in a very long day, planting 155 acres in one day just to get finished. My flowers are looking beautiful. I love the black velvet petunias in this big pot.
The flower bed around the house is doing well.
We even have some roses blooming.
And more......
The garden is another story.
The potatoes and onions that were planted way early are doing well.
The peas, beets, spinach, and carrots were planted during quarantine. The peas decided to take the "social distancing" rule very seriously and only about 2 plants came up in each of the 4 rows. The beets, carrots, and spinach decided to adhere to the just stay in rule and didn't come up at all! So, now they have been tilled again and we replanted peas, planted green beans, cucumbers, pumpkins, and spaghetti squash.
The 2 rows of corn that were planted later are up and an additional 12 rows were planted in the field, so hopefully we will be putting corn in the freezer this year.
I have one little red raspberry twig left, and one blackberry twig that is covered in blooms. I don't think any of the apple trees have anything (or I just need glasses), the peach tree has peaches, but has more dead limbs than live ones. The cherry trees probably have enough cherries for one pie if I beat the birds to them.
The black raspberries are trying to make up for the less than stellar efforts of the other fruit offerings. I have never seen them this loaded.
Upon digging around the basement looking for something, I came upon a forgotten Christmas gift, and herb garden growing kit. It had dirt discs, seeds, pots, and directions. Sarah and I had fun "making dirt" and planting the seeds.
The kitchen was a little messy when we got through.
These are now sitting in the kitchen window. So far, there are no signs of life, but we'll give them a little more time and hopefully we'll have some fresh herbs.

There were moments when we thought this day might never come.............she really liked school and kept finding classes she wanted to take, and we finally informed her that going to grad school was fine, but she would have to complete her undergrad degree first...... ! Of course, it wasn't the graduation weekend we imagined.
Her tassel and cords arrived in the mail one day.
She dug out her cap and gown from high school and we watched the virtual ceremony on the computer! Harry Potter fans, note the decorated cap!
There is her name (Magna Cum Laude) with the others receiving the BS in Aerospace Engineering degree. Her best friend, Paige is listed directly below her.

Her church in Rolla did recognition during their live stream service on Sunday.
And Covenant Presbyterian did a drive-by parade Sunday which was so much fun! She loved the signs and balloons!
On the Thursday morning of her last final, I woke her up by jumping up and down on her bed and yelling "Last Day of School!" over and over. Then on Friday, I did the same thing, but yelled, "First Day of the Rest of Your Life!" She wasn't impressed by either effort. To celebrate on that Friday, I took her shopping.............. To Sew Sweet Quilt Shop in Brunswick!
I had doodled a drawing of BB-8 from Star Wars and was talking to her about how to make it into a quilt.
She, of course, took it and pointed out all of the markings that weren't accurate, and started to work on redoing my drawing. Of course, she had lots of things to use to make it an accurate drawing.
We did the math...........to figure out how big to make the pieces to get a throw-sized quilt for her apartment, and then I showed her how to calculate the amount of fabric she would need.
Her little BB-8 even came with us to the quilt shop. It was very entertaining to what him run around the floor in the shop. (He did get wiped down with a Lysol wipe afterwards.)
And we went to lunch at Kaitlyn's, a wonderful sandwich and ice cream shop. We hadn't dined in anywhere in months..................it was a weird feeling, but the food was delicious!
I had the strawberry spinach salad.............wonderful!
Honestly, we were exhausted when we got home............we're just not used to being out in public like that anymore. So, we took naps!
We are hoping to get started cutting the pieces for her quilt this weekend. Hope you have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Well, I have received 2 wonderful Mother's Day gifts already! First, the Hubs took me for a drive to show me this............
It's my new (well, new to our farm) combine. Apparently I have a new platform and it's going to be just awesome! It's still parked at John Deere, but it's mine (well, ours)!
And DD (darling daughter) went shopping Saturday (not many places open to shop, and I'm really glad she didn't shop at Walmart) and got me this beautiful hanging basket of petunias!
My photo doesn't do them justice. They are purple with little white flecks that just sparkle.
The Hubs and I took a road trip on Saturday to my parents' house. I delivered a couple of quilts that Mom had sent to have quilted. We had lunch together and Mom and I tried to show and tell as much quilting stuff as possible. It wasn't long enough. Mom did comment that the food for lunch tasted so much better when you had someone there to eat with. Before we left, we found a little something in Dad's woodshed to bring home...........well, 3 little somethings!
We're not totally sure on their gender. There is so much hair that it's a little hard to tell. At first I thought it was 2 girls and a boy, then 3 boys, and now Hubby says they are all girls. Time will tell! The little siamese looking one doesn't have a name yet. She/he is mine to name. Sarah has the one with the white on its face and she is calling it Boots. David named the chubby gray one Judith (after a previous Judith we had who was the same color and he really liked that cat). I guess if it turns out to be a boy, we'll call him Jude.
DD went out to bring them in Sunday morning and she carried one in her hands and the others.......
They are pocket-sized kitties!
On Sunday, the Hubs returned to the field to plant corn. It has been raining again, but he is down to about one day of corn planting to be finished. Grandpa Barber was supposed to provide the special music for their zoom church service and he talked DD into playing the violin for it. She did really well. She even put on a shirt that wasn't a t-shirt! However, there were still pj pants since they wouldn't be seen! (and Scooby Doo socks)
I can't say much. I did a Facebook Live from my sewing room for my quilt guild facebook page on Friday afternoon and that was the first time I had worn makeup or earrings in over a month. I did it again on Saturday when we went to Bethany. I'm getting decked out again today as I am going with my neighbor to a quilt shop in Chillicothe so she can leave some things to have quilted. Wow! That's 3 times in a week! I'm going to be exhausted!
On the sewing front........
Dashing Through the Snow got its borders and a backing was made and it's off to be quilted.
And the Laundry Basket Mystery Quilt top was completed. Sarah's cat, Dory, inspected it to make sure it met quality control standards. I will be looking for backing today at the quilt shop. I have done a really good job of using from stash recently, but things are getting pretty depleted in some areas.
And Cici is ever vigilant keeping guard from her watch post in the sewing room.

I'm sure you're wondering how I came by the title "World's Best Wife!" Well, one morning when it had rained too much for my DH (dear husband) to be in the field I suggested that he go COMBINE SHOPPING! At which point, he declared me the World's Best Wife! Now DD (darling daughter) informs me that since I'm his ONLY wife, that also makes me his worst wife and everything in between. I'm going to ignore her and go with my hubby's proclamation. After all, Mother's Day is coming up and he needs to get me something................. I even asked for something in GREEN! That way it will match the tractor I got for my birthday a few years ago. Remember this?
Speaking of green..........we have some beautiful things blooming in the flower beds..............
And things continue to progress in the sewing room.............
My Dashing Through the Snow quilt finally got that candy cane striped border on it. I really overshot the amount of border needed, so I expect you will see it pop up again on another quilt. Now for the final border and binding debate..........
I think there will be a narrow green border with red binding.
More tiny houses.............. and I'm learning to make trees to add in to make things interesting! Keep watching for more houses and trees.

I have a few random photos to share that just haven't seemed to fit in any post, so here they are together. Enjoy!
We enjoyed burning all the sticks gathered from the yard in the fire pit one evening. We're definitely enjoying the patio when the weather allows.
Cici thought she would surprise us with ............... herself! on Easter morning. She was pleased to show that she could still fit in the Easter basket.
Easter lunch was pork kabobs on the grill with cilantro lime rice. Very tasty!
Since I no longer have Izzy to walk with, DD thought maybe we should try taking Cici and Dory for walks. She had harnesses, so we gave it a try. Cici actually liked being out in the grass until an ATV drove by and scared her so badly that she escaped the harness, dove through the porch railing and slammed into the back door trying to get back inside. It was a very very short walk.
I have also been reading papers for DD. Trust me, this one was riveting. I did learn that Raspberry Pi is not a food! (note the spelling). I'm still unclear as to what it is though. I also read a paper for her ethics class over the book that was written about the euthanasia deaths in Memorial Hospital in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. Trust me, not an uplifting read at all.
And spring has definitely sprung!
The Hubs took me mushroom hunting and I found these! We went again the next night, and he found 3. He has also found at least 2 ticks on each hunt. I am apparently not sweet enough for them because I haven't found any.
